T'Irnya served aboard the Federation starship USS Starbound circa 2359, on a training cruise for Starfleet Academy graduates. T'Irnya survived an attack by Orion pirates, and helped Ensign George Bosinney work after he'd lost his hand in the battle. (TNG novel: Survivors)
