A tachyon eddy is a current of tachyons in interstellar space.
In 2371, Benjamin Sisko discovered that tachyon eddies in the Denorios Belt accelerated ancient Bajoran lightships to faster than light speeds, which enabled them to reach Cardassia. Sisko and Jake Sisko's lightship the Baraka entered such a tachyon eddy. (DS9 episode: "Explorers")
