At a federation Training Facility, Admiral Jacobs orders the player to maneuver the Essex to a series of two buoys. Subsequentally, the Essex is ordered to Sector 32 where it is to combat two Target drones. The training is then interrupted to investigate an attack of a rogue andorian freighter on a transport. After disabling the freighter shields Essex is ordered to abort the attack. The whole situation was a training exercise an. The mission is resolved after docking to the training facility.

The player starts at the training facility ans is accompanied by the USS Missouri, Admiral Jacobs' command ship. After settings course to the neutral zone, the player receives a distress call from the Kantare. Mr. Simon Caraway a representative of the Kantare Mining Company is requesting assistance in order to deal with riders. The supposed riders turn out to be manned by miners who escaped the mines because of bad mining conditions and Caraway attempted to silence them by sending starfleet. After governor Vladis is informed about Caraways misconduct, the Essex is ordered to report to Space Station K-7 at the border of the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone.

While patrolling the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone the federation Freighter Miriam is requesting aid. It is being dragged into Klingon Space by the IKS Bathma. It turns out Miriam attacked Bathma umprovoked. Nonetheless, the objective defend against Bathma, rescue Miriam's crew and return to K-7.
Ambassador Escort[]
Vulcan Ambassador Sorlin spent the last 6 years to convince the Klingons of a permanent truce. The Player must escort Sorlin's ship, the vulcan transport Taopok, which is returning from Kronos, to the Klingon side of the Zone.
The mission starts at K-7 from where the Essex must warp to the neutral zone, greet the Topal, and return to K-7. On the way to K-7 however Taopok suffers an warp core missaligment and is forced to stop near an asteroid field. An unknown ship of Klingon Design enters the sector and swiftly destroys Taopok and warps out. Scanning the debris Essex confirms disruptor technology of klingon design was used in the destruction. It however shows elevated tachyon levels and residual antiprotons at the site of destruction. The ship escaped to the Eridini sector and the Essex goes on pursuit. Sensors show the Eridini had been frequented by several ships and are unable to detect which ship they they followed, but elevated tachyon levels are present. One warp trail leads to the Romulan Neutral Zone and the other to planet Suliban.
Following the warp trail to Suliban the Essex it finds a Romulan and a Klingon Ship.

Outpost 11 has detected what they believe to the assassin's ship in the Archanis sector via Long range sensors. USS Amundsen is sent to hunt it down.
Arrowing in the Archanis sector the Romulan ship is detected. Sensors confirm it is manned with romulan. After a short fight, Amundsen receives a distress call from USS Hudson which is attacked by Orion pirates two sectors away in the Andiri sector. The player must either pursuit the Romulans to the Hromi Cluster or protect the USS Hudson. After that they must head to Outpost 11 and dock.

Departing from Outpost 11 Amundsen is ordered to deliver supplies from Regula I to the Colony ship Elysian Fields in the Akiri Sector and return to Outpost 11. Upon delivery Amundsen's sensers detect a large amount of ships warping to Outpost 11.
Arriving back at Outpost 11 Amundsen helps USS Norfolk to protect agains an attack of three klingon ships. After a successful battle, Amundsen is ordered to protect Outpost G-5.
After arrival at G-5, Amundsen detects two Klingon vessels and subsequently fights them with the help of Norfolk. Amundsen then has to decide to engage the Klingons who are regrouping at Curso or head to Starbase 12.

Departing from Starbase 12 Amundsen is assigned to protect Outpost P-3. Arriving at P-3 USS Trafalgar is helping to divert Klingon ships. After a successful battle with the klingons, another encounter at the neutral zone is optional. Players might also head back to Starbase 12.
