Tafka was a male Bajoran who served in the 24th century, during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. He was a devoted believer in the Prophets and their message of peace; however, he was also a member of the Bajoran Resistance, and understood that violent means his world. During this time, he became friends with fellow rebel Hegol Den. Following the end of the Occupation in 2369, Tafka entered the monastery. Two months later, he had killed himself, in the belief that he could not be forgiven for his acts during the Occupation. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
