The tai-lun was an Atrean tradition. It involved the husband of a deceased woman and her closest friends watching over her body after death.
In 2374, Juliana Tainer's android died and Data was able to prevent any autopsy being performed, that would have revealed her true nature, by arranging the tai-lun. Data compared it to the Klingon ak'voh tradition. (TNG novel: Immortal Coil)
