A tajtIq was a Klingon knife, with a blade so long that it resembled a short sword. It is not as popular as the bat'leth or the mek'leth, but many Klingon warriors nevertheless carried a tajtIq as a complement to their weapon of choice. (tlhIngan Hol reference: Klingon for the Galactic Traveler, ST reference: The Klingon Art of War: Ancient Principles of Ruthless Honor)

The 22nd century Tajtiq-class fighter, active in the 2150s and 2160s, was named for this weapon. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Live by the Code)

In 2373, Worf attacked Gowron with a tajtIq, believing that he had been replaced by a Changeling. (DS9 episode: "Apocalypse Rising")
