A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

In an alternate timeline, Takako Sulu was a female human on Earth in the mid 23rd century. She was the great-granddaughter of a man who had lost his first wife and son after John Frederick Paxton attacked San Francisco with the Verteron Array in 2155. Sulu was a student at Berkeley University in 2264, and a member of Terra Prime, who protested the visit by T'Pol to campus that year. (Star Trek: Myriad Universes novel: A Less Perfect Union)

Apparently, Takako's great-grandfather was an ancestor of Hikaru Sulu in the proper timeline and thus has no counterpart herself.
