History and specifics
The Talin system's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including fourth planet Talin IV and eighth planet Talin VIII. In the 23rd century, Talin IV was found by Federation observers to be inhabited, and the Talin civilization that made their homeworld there was under Prime Directive protection. Talin VIII was a gas giant, which in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries was converted to a food source for a creature known as "the One". (TOS novel: Prime Directive)
