Do we need individual articles for alpha/beta/gamma/day/night etc. shifts? I think it is neater if we summarise all these terms under a single page for "Duty Shift."

Also (and not sure if this is really an issue but thought I'd mention it) bridge watches and duty shifts aren't usually the same thing, (there are usually 2 or 3 watches within a shift.) I'm sure I've seen an example that backs up Starfleet taking this approach (something like "Riker commands the first watch of the Day shift...") but I can't remember the source for this. – CommodoreFisher 18:03, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Makes sense to me, until we have a lot more info on each shift one page seems the best option. --8of5 18:32, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
  • OK - so I've spent hours trying to research this to come up with what I perceive to be an unsatisfactory answer! I found my source for the quote above... and it was Memory Alpha! The talk page over there discusses all the same issues I have come across. It seems there simply isn't enough canon / licenced info to piece together the system that Starfleet uses, without coming across contridictions and inconsistant terminology usage. – CommodoreFisher 12:54, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
