Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

Dramatis Personae[]

I'm sorry, why is there a link to the episode Dramatis Personae here? It makes this trivia note not make any sense -- please explain this or else it will be removed. -- Captain MKB 15:00, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that made no sense to me either.--Long Live the United Earth 16:43, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

disambiguant?[]

is there a reason we couldnt call this article Travers (Commodore)? captainmike 10:00, August 19, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, there is a reason. And that reason is that, halfway through changing all the links to this page from "Travers" to "Travers (23rd century)" to disambiguate him from the 24th century Commander (the one from the comic, which was originally called "Travers (24th century)" on that page; I just now realized that I even copied that onto the Hava (Benzite) page. That's fixed now.), I realized that the Travers referenced in the NF novel is neither of those two, but a second 24th century Travers of (to me) dubious allegiance (and little info on him given in the novel, beyond his gender and last name). I did realize then, of course, that "Travers (Commodore)" would have been a far better page title for the 23rd century person, but quite frankly I just wanted to get this done and was too lazy to go through those pages that I'd already edited and change the link again.
But, if you want, feel free to move the page again. I have no objections. Also, I did notice that some userpages and an archive of your user talk page link(ed) to the bare "Travers" as well. I edited those userpages that looked like fanfics based on the "Jean-Luc Picard" page, but left your talk archive and UESPA's userpage alone. Lastly, I have no idea why the "Starfleet commodores" category and the "2267 Starfleet personnel deaths" page still link to the bare "Travers", even after I edited those. Feel free to look into that, too. I'm still new to being an admin, so there may well be something I missed. - Bell'Orso (talk) 10:27, August 19, 2017 (UTC)

The "what links here" displays info from a cache, it persists until the next time the wiki scans itself and makes updates to where its link tables occur to be pointing to - especially with templatized data links - captainmike 10:37, August 19, 2017 (UTC)

also, from an admin standpoint, having the article at the correct name is a high-priority task - so i have moved it. however - having the links go direct rather than through redirects is a low-priority task - which is a fancy way of saying i'm also too lazy to go through them all again. the redirects function so the readership can still click through, the database is robust and functional, etc. -- captainmike 11:45, August 19, 2017 (UTC)
