Similar to the new Iconian gateways info, should not the Passive Recording Devices be a page on themselves with a much reduced overview and link from this page noting the use of nanites? --8of5 18:43, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

There is no name for the machines, they are referred to as nanites in a particle ejector that serve as passive recording devices and I was reluctant on making an article for something that was explicitly named in the book, only have the first one so don't know if they are named in the second. I thought it would be simpler and safer to have them in the existing nanite entry.. kind of like the mention of the dark matter cloaks and transmorphic cloaks in the cloaking device article. -- Darth Batrus 22:40, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
OK then, well this sounds like a specific applications of nanites without a proper name, so probably is right to be as you've set it up. The various cloaking devices I'm not so sure about though :P interphase cloaking devices have their own page, these unique variations probably should too. --8of5 12:37, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I created an entry on Talk:Cloaking device if its alright to discuss that and if you are happy with the passive recording nanites then I think this issue is resolved :). Will try and expand on the overview to make the article a bit more complete and hopefully this can become a featured article one day in the future. --Darth Batrus 18:10, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
