Name source? Edit

I'm curious about where we're getting the name Romulan Republican Force, considering I haven't seen that term anywhere in the game. The abbreviation "RRF" is visible in a tooltip, but the expanded form used here seems both awkward and not very Romulan (Cryptic draws heavily on Diane Duane for their portrayal, and Duanian Romulans are more inclined to use the word galae, "aerospace fleet", for space naval forces). --StarSword (talk) 18:03, January 1, 2016 (UTC)

I picked it up when I was still over at STOwiki. It was either Romulan Republic Force(s) or Romulan Republic Force. If there's no stone-cold source, we should move it to RRF and leave the old name as a redirect. Kind regards and Happy New Year, -- Markonian 18:42, January 1, 2016 (UTC)

Regarding the above, there still does not appear to be any source that calls them 'force' either in game, or anything from the devs that I have seen, should this not be now moved to RRF, as the above user suggests? Or is somebody able to provide such info? Mrsuperhappy (talk) 14:55, August 29, 2017 (UTC)

The game consistently uses RRF, and I have not seen it spelled out anywhere in game yet. It is a curious case. Kind regards, -- Markonian 20:41, August 29, 2017 (UTC)

The closest I have been able to find a name mentioned for the acronym is on the stowiki here - https://sto.gamepedia.com/Admiralty_System_Ship_Master_List/Romulan_Endgame

While I hesitate to say this is the answer, it is the only place I have seen anything suggested for it, this suggests that the F stands for fleet. Mrsuperhappy (talk) 22:25, August 30, 2017 (UTC)
