Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

As per recent revelations at Memory Alpha's Sabre page, it has been discovered and referenced that the ship's designer/creator calls it the Sabre class, NOT the Saber class. The aticle can be found here, at Doug Drexler's web page/blog.

I'm not altering all this right away so as to give time for discussion first, if any is felt necessary. Commander, Starbase 23 04:25, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

This wiki honors non-canon licensed sources:
Looks like this supposed 'revelation' amounts to a whole lot of nothing. You were right not to edit. The 'Sabre' class name is definitely in the minority. -- Captain MKB 05:22, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
It's a difference in American versus British spelling. Which is what it appears the M-A discussion has been touching on, although it does point out several sources using the "-er" version. Looks like an interesting discussion to follow. --Savar 15:03, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
As with MA, we default to American English in most cases, because Star Trek is an American creation. The canon designers' intentions could in fact be used to influence our writing, but not when overridden by such a large variety of other sources. - Captain MKB 19:21, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
