These were among the first comic books I ever bought, though I only got the TOS-era ones. I think I was 8 years old or so when these hit the shelves. Anyway, nostalgia trip aside, here's a question... Does Spock's appearance here (in the TNG segment) contradict "Unification"? These comics predate the episode, don't they? --TimPendragon 22:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

To a certain degree I do think it contradicts Unification. The TNG segment takes place in late 2367, which is a few months before Unification is set. However, the contradiction is that Spock and Picard meet and are heavily involved in Modala, but in Unification, Picard mentions that he only met Spock once at a wedding (which we later learned was Spock's betrothel to Saavik in Vulcan's Heart). --The Doctor 22:49, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it was in "Sarek" that Picard said he'd been at "Sarek's son's wedding." That was in 2366, before both "Modala" and "Unification." And anyway, Picard was talking about the first time he met Sarek, not Spock. While the implication in "Unification" is that it is the first time that Picard and Spock have met, Spock does recognize him instantly at the end of part one:
Picard: "I'm looking for Ambassador Spock."
Spock (in the shadows): "You have found him, Captain Picard."
I don't think there's anything in "Unifcation" that explicitly precludes a previous encounter between the two. But do events in "Modala" contradict stuff that was in "Unification"? --TimPendragon 22:54, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Well I apologise, you weren't actually clear in what you meant. But to the best of my knowledge, no. --The Doctor 22:56, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I was thinking along the lines you were, until I remembered that quote was from "Sarek" - you jogged my memory. And then I had to really think about "Unification"...based on the episode, they could have met before, right? --TimPendragon 22:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
I think it was definitely likely that the two had met before Unification, the best place was likely Modala as its between Sarek and Unification which would allow for the added meeting. In the story, Spock was working as an ambassador as seen in Unification, and his mission to Romulus didn't start until a few weeks before the episode. --The Doctor 23:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
It's a pretty perfect fit, then. I wonder if the folks at DC knew the details of "Unification" before it aired... --TimPendragon 23:31, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
"There might be something else slightly problematic. I can't remember exactly how it goes, but in Modala, Spock mentions that Picard had recently done a great service for his father. When reading it, I got the impression this was referring to the mind meld. In Unification, Picard mentions to Spock that he melded with Sarek and Spock seemed unaware of this.
