Talk:USS Constellation II

The Constitution class Constellation from the Star Fleet Technical Manual and the Constellation from the Rihannsu books can't be the same vessel, as the ship in the Rihannsu books is clearly stated to be Constellation class. --Turtletrekker 08:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

That's funny because in My Enemy, My Ally on page 45 there are the following lines:

"Other shapes, barely illuminated, broke their orbits and gathered slowly in around her (the Enterprise). Two of them kept to the usual five-kilometer traffic limit: Constellation and Intrepid, ships of Enterprise's own class.

By my reckoning that suggests to me that the Constellation and Intrepid were Constitution-class starships. Even though the Constellation's registry number was given as NCC-1017, it clearly fits this ship from the Technical Manual. --The Doctor 11:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

A question: Where is it said that the Constellation is Constellation-class? If it's in a later book, it may be a case of retconning by the author (since the Constellation class seen in TNG hadn't been designed when "My Enemy, My Ally" was written).--Emperorkalan 12:15, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

It occurs in Swordhunt and Honor Blade, so yes, it is either a retcon, or Diane Duane just forgot what she said before (she's been known to do that - just look at the Lalairu). In any case, I'm more inclined to go with Constellation-class, because it's much more than a passing reference, and it makes sense with the time frame. Unless, the My Enemy, My Ally ship was decommissioned before Swordhunt, but given construction times and such that's unlikely. --TimPendragon 19:33, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Page one of Honor Blade...

Sempach was one of a newer, experimental class of cruisers, the Constellation class, named in memory of Matt Decker's old ship that had been lost against the planet killer in the L-374 system not so very long ago. The class-name ship and the Sempach had been the first out of the shipyards, with the Speedwell close behind.

Page three...

"She's a fine ship" (Captain Danilov) said to Jim as they turned a corner, a little fidgety at first, but she's settled in nicely now. Fleet's pleased: They're already flying the keels for two new ones-- Stagazer and Hathawy.
