Mission citeEdit

The Planck is not part of any mission. It is always present at its location. Therefore, there is no mission cite on Stowiki.org either. -- Markonian 17:08, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

There should be a way to cite specifically to the game -- we avoid the use of {{g}} with STO, since it's a bit of a different beast from other Trek video games. I'll double check that, and get back with an answer. -- sulfur 18:37, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. There is a mission (http://www.stowiki.org/Mission:_Report_to_Gamma_Orionis) involving Battle Group Omega we could take as a reference, although the Planck plays no role in it. -- Markonian 20:07, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

I wasn't aware we were avoiding the use of {{g}}, it actually seems to make sense to use it for the "common areas" of the game, doesn't it? The Star Trek Online article has a note describing the parameters of how and why to choose that template. -- Captain MKB 20:47, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

I've had a look on the STO article and its discussion page but I couldn't find the reference to {{g}} where the parameters are given. However, I agree with the Captain that it suits "common areas" of the game very well. The ingame world is big, there are a lot of items not tied into any mission, not forgetting Foundry assets, either. -- -- Markonian 11:59, June 15, 2012 (UTC)

I'm good with common refs, it'd just be nice to have a better way to refer to those, to indicate such. Especially since a lot of non-common STO refs just list the game. Perhaps a new argument to the STO template to indicate "common area".
Markonian: Is there some in-game terminology that describes "common areas" or something similar? -- sulfur 13:56, June 15, 2012 (UTC)
Not one for all that I know of but I can think of several options to circumvent the problem:
1) The Planck is not part of a specific mission, but Battle Group Omega is. And the ship is part of the BGO. Ergo: It's part of the mission. This could cover most things
2) Foundry items (such as ship classes) could its own category (like n|STO for novel, f|STO for Foundry).
What remains? E.g. the Captain's Table. It is just there in the Sol system, with no mission link. You can link it to "Welcome to ESD", but what about Cap aboard the Table? I'm not sure. However, there is still much to be written in Memory Beta, we've just scratched the surface. Thus, we can start with the "easily" verifiable topics and get to the tricky parts later. -- -- Markonian 15:18, June 15, 2012 (UTC)
