Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! As always, the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Strange New Worlds and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG and Star Trek Online, as well as other eventful releases such as Section 31, the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

As this article is already split in three, might it be worth splitting it into three separate articles? As it's already starting to fill up and will undoubtedly get a lot bigger. Perhaps using captaincies rather than dates though?: Under April and Pike, Kirk's first five year mission, refit? --8of5 18:30, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

I'd be fine with this, along the same lines of splitting the "Template:NCC-1701 planets". -- Captain MKB 18:37, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Is there a way to split an article like that while keeping the history on all three resulting articles? --8of5 18:39, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Not in any meaningful way, no. There is the possibility of going through edit-by-edit and merging the edits that exist only in one subsection, but you will lose any edits that edited more than one component section at a time should they exist. -- Captain MKB 18:43, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds like far more than effort than it's worth! --8of5 18:46, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Just an aside, seems like the section names get considerably more complicated by including captaincies. Now that I've seen your "April and Pike" link written, I have to say it might take less space to say "2243 to 2251" or the like. -- Captain MKB 18:55, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
