The Talon class was a 25th century Romulan Republic shuttlecraft type, a commander's gig starship in Romulan Republic Navy service in the 2400s and 2410s decade. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")
Technical data[]
The RRW Talon, and its Jarok-class counterpart RRW Jarok, served as the template for a embarked craft for the Republic's veteran officers. Their design was an evolution of the larger 24th century Romulan scout ships. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")
Specifically, the Talon resembled a larger science vessel active in the 2360s, the Romulan science vessel RIS Apnex. (WizKids module: Attack Wing)
The commander's gig's specs were equivalent to the Federation USS Sovereign-type captain's yacht. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
The Imperial Klingon Defense Force counterpart was the DujHod-class general's chariot. (STO - Empire mission: "The Hunt is On")
Visually, the Talon shared its primary hull and warp nacelles with the Jarok class. It carried a less streamlined avionics module, and a mission pod attached to the aft end. In the 25th century, the avionics interior for all Republic shuttles was standardized. The Talon gig required at least one officer to pilot and could accommodate passengers. The hull material or livery could be modified at any allied shipyard. The New Romulus Shipyards offered hull types based on larger Reman and Romulan warbirds. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")

In the year 2409, Admiral Kererek authorized Subcommander Rehu with providing the small shuttlecraft to Navy crews at New Romulus Command. Their commanding officers were primarily Romulans and Remans but also included aliens. They could modify the shuttle to suit their needs by changing its equipment and appearance, e.g. to follow Reman starship standards. (STO - Vengeance mission: "Small Packages")
From 2410 onwards, the RRW Talon represented its class on the shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Khitomer Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy.
