Tamal was a male human Starfleet officer turned Maquis in the 24th century.

Tamal served as a petty officer aboard the USS Gandhi, and was recruited into the Maquis by his shipmate, Lieutenant Thomas Riker. (ST:CCG Second Edition, Necessary Evil)

In 2371, Tamal joined Riker and Kalita in a plot to steal the USS Defiant from Deep Space 9 and take it into the Orias system. Following the discovery of a secret Obsidian Order base, the Cardassians turned Tamal and the rest of the Defiant hijackers, excepting Riker, to Federation custody. (DS9 episode: "Defiant")

After being returned to Deep Space 9, Tamal and his fellow Maquis were to be transported to Starbase 375, and from there to Earth to stand trial. However, their runabout was intercepted by a Maquis cell led by Maass and they escaped captivity. Tamal joined Maass's cell, but died just months later. (TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: A Weary Life)
