Tantalus Field

In the mirror universe, the Tantalus Field is an alien device that vaporizes victims at the touch of a button. James Kirk used one to become captain of the ISS Enterprise. Spock took possession of the device when it was given to him by Marlena Moreau and an alternate Kirk. (TOS episode: Mirror, Mirror)
