Tarna was a thorny bush-like plant life native to Betazed.
Primitive Betazoids used tarna thorns as projectiles for blowguns. The members of the Betazed resistance to the Dominion occupation of Betazed similarly came to rely on these low-tech weapons. (TNG novel: The Battle of Betazed)
