Tarsus II was a planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the second planet in the Tarsus star system in Federation space, home to the Tarsusian civilization.
History and specifics[]
In the year 2268, the Tarsusians made first contact with the United Federation of Planets via an encounter with the starship USS Enterprise, and were offered Federation membership. This was their first contact with an alien intelligent species. (TOS comic: "Day of the Inquisitors")
- On the first page of the comic, reference is made to the Enterprise's visit to Tarsus II, but on the final page, Kirk states that their mission to Tarsus IV was accomplished. This is likely an error. However, it is possible they had another mission to Tarsus IV before visiting Tarsus II in passing.
Tarsus II has an orange sky, a yellowish sun, and appeared greenish from orbit. By 2273, a fuel depot and ship repair station with about 200 people had been established there. Anton Zauber caused a Rigellian fever outbreak at the station by poisoning its water supply with gram-negative bacillus. One can pilot a ship from the Andorian system on a direct heading for the Tarsus system. The freighter Skorpius using chemical propulsion traversed the distance. (TOS comic: "The Real McCoy")
