Tau Cygna V was a planet in the Tau Cygna system where a colony in 2274, the SS Artemis crashed on the surface and the survivors started a new civilization. In 2366, the USS Enterprise-D was assigned to remove the lost colony of Humans against their will when the planet was annexed from the Federation by the Sheliak species. The planet was bathed in radiation harmful to Humans but the colonists developed a natural resistance over time. To handle the relocation effort, Lieutenant Commander Data was sent to planet since he was immune to the radiation effects. (TNG episode: "The Ensigns of Command")
