For the primary universe counterpart, see Typhon Pact.

In the mirror universe, the Taurus Pact was an alliance of interstellar states formed in the wake of the weakening of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance and the rise of the Terran Rebellion. The pact's charter members were the Gorn Hegemony, the Breen Confederacy and the Tholian Assembly. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)

Later, the Tzenkethi Coalition joined the Taurus Pact as well. (ST - Section 31 novel: Disavowed)

History[]

The intention behind the Pact was to fill the vacuum left by the looming dissolution of the Alliance. It was founded at the former site of Starbase Vanguard in the Taurus Reach in 2377. Provided with executive powers by their respective governments, Prefect Zogozin, Tholian delegate Azrene and Thot Gor formed the mutually beneficial Taurus Pact. Its designation was coined by Zogozin.

During the war between the Terran Rebellion and the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, the Taurus Pact did not side with the combatants. The weakening of the Alliance made the Pact bolder, however. The Tholians took ten systems between Rudellia and Vanden while the Breen captured Lazon II from the Cardassian Union. Conflict with the Pact was a looming menace for the Klingons and the Cardassians, who tried to broker a truce in order not to face a two- or three-front war.

Following the victory of the Terran Rebellion and the dissolution of the Alliance in 2378, the Terran Protectorate, the forerunner of the Galactic Commonwealth, was recognized by the Pact as a nascent state. In addition, nonaggression treaties were signed with the Klingon Empire and Cardassia. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)

At some point before January 2386, the Tzenkethi Coalition joined the Taurus Pact. The Tzenkethi maintained an embassy on Bajor. (ST - Section 31 novel: Disavowed)

The Taurus Pact members continued to hold a grudge against the Commonwealth for the Terran Empire's deeds in the Taurus Reach pertaining the experiments with the Shedai and their technology. (VAN - Mirror Universe short story: "The Black Flag", TOS - Mirror Universe novel: The Sorrows of Empire; ST - Section 31 novel: Disavowed)

During a standoff between the Galactic Commonwealth and the Dominion, the two anti-Commonwealth agents Kersil Regon and Kort convinced Ambassador Zolim Fel Tun-A to have the Taurus Pact send three fleets towards the Bajoran system. Regon believed the Breen and Tholians were eager to see the Commonwealth's nose bloodied, and lured Zolim with the chance of salvaging advanced technology from the aftermath of a Galactic-Dominion battle. The Taurus Pact dispatched three fleets, one Breen, Tholian and Tzenkethi each. When the Dominion and the Commonwealth signed a non-aggression pact, the fleets retreated quickly, and Zolim was recalled to Tzenkethi to answer for his fool's errand. (ST - Section 31 novel: Disavowed)
