Tegolar sword icon

Tegolar sword

A tegolar sword was an edged mêlée weapon of Nausicaan design. The tegolar's blade was asymmetrical, and serrated. (TNG episode: "Tapestry")

The name "tegolar" seems to have been invented for Star Trek Online, where the weapon is an uncommon drop in ground combat. The name is similar to tegol, the Nausicaan concept for the soul. In addition, "ar" has been established in the DS9 novel Warpath as a term meaning "blood" when used in Nausicaan names; thus the name is something akin to "soul-blood".

Stats[]

Length: 50-120 centimeters

Mass: 0.5-2 kilograms

History[]

In the year 2327, a Nausicaan stabbed Starfleet Ensign Jean-Luc Picard with a tegolar sword. The ensign survived but his heart had to be replaced with an artificial organ. (TNG episode: "Tapestry")

In 2409, tegolar swords were among the weapons found in the Tal Shiar arena on Nopada Prime. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Coliseum")
