Popular programmes included Star Trek (TOS short story: "Visit to a Weird Planet Revisited", DS9 short story: "Research") by the company called Paramount Pictures and Doctor Who (TOS novels: Rihannsu#1: My Enemy, My Ally and Ishmael) by the BBC.

In her travels with Gary Seven, Roberta Lincoln frequently watched or mentioned programmes from television, including 'Mission: Impossible', 'The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.'(TOS novel Assignment: Eternity), 'The Avengers', 'The Brady Bunch', 'The Partridge Family', 'The Odd Couple', 'Magilla Gorilla', 'Astro Boy', 'The Addams Family', 'Quick Draw McGraw', 'Ghostbusters', 'Peanuts', 'Popeye'(TOS novel The Eugenics Wars: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1), 'Barney The Dinosaur' and 'G.I. In 2040, television become outdated and finally obsolete (TNG episode: "The Neutral Zone"), being replaced by stage plays (TNG novel: Debtor's Planet), although some people still liked televisions even after they were obsolete (TOS episode The Cage and VGR episodes Memorial and Workforce, Part 2).
