In 2259, Admiral Vindeilin sent a message to Captain Diego Reyes ordering USS Dauntless to withdraw from Ahza-R7a to the edge of the Azha system. She ordered him to take no action while the Federation Council met with the Klingon Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets to resolve the issue of the apparent defection of the Arkenite mining complex to the Klingon Empire.
