Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki
USS Theseus

A Theseus-class temporal escort in the 2550s.

In starship classification, a temporal escort was a 26th century designation for escort starships designed to face combat in the Temporal Cold War. As such, temporal escorts were not outright timeships but capable of withstanding the rigors of time travel. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday: 26th Century Ship Stats)

History and specifics[]

Spherebuilder

A Tuterian Sphere Builder.

Federation Starfleet commissioned tier 6, temporal-rated starship classes around the 2550s[1] decade when the United Federation of Planets faced another front of the Temporal Cold War. At that time, the trans-dimensional Sphere Builders, formerly the Tuterians from the Delta Quadrant[2] established a hostile expanse in local space. (STO - Future Proof mission: "Ragnarok")

USS Mjolnir

The Theseus-class USS Mjolnir in 2554.

The Sphere Builders had technology that allowed them to examine alternate timelines. They sought to prevent their defeat by the Federation. (ENT episode: "Azati Prime")

The Theseus-class temporal escort was an evolution of the 23rd century Perseus-class escort. It was one of the ship classes deployed by Starfleet at the Battle of Procyon V in the year 2554[1]. (STO - Future Proof mission: "Ragnarok")

USS Perseus NCC-1775

The USS Perseus in 2270.

Due to a Temporal Cold War front opening in the 25th century, the 31st century Federation Temporal Agency made futuristic ship classes, including the 26th century Theseus-class temporal escort, available to the Khitomer Alliance powers in 2410. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday: 26th Century Ship Stats)

Ouroboros class

The temporal raider USS Ouroboros, circa 3051.

25th century Starfleet recommissioned the 2260s- and 2270s-era Perseus class as a temporal escort. Equipped with 2410s-era technology, the Perseus- and Theseus-class temporal escorts were a match in performance and capabilities. (STO - Agents of Yesterday mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

By the 31st century, temporal escorts had been succeeded and tactical timeships were represented by the Ouroboros-class temporal raider. (STO website: Agents of Yesterday: 31st Century Ship Stats)
