A temporal rift was a type of spatial phenomenon.
History and specifics[]
In 2366, the USS Enterprise-D encountered a temporal rift which led back to 2344. (VOY episode: "Yesterday's Enterprise")
In 2372, the USS Voyager encountered a temporal rift which led back to 1996. (VOY episode: "Future's End")
In 2381, a temporal rift opened up on the ruined surface of Coridan III. George Faunt and Meyo Ranjea of the Federation Department of Temporal Investigations investigated and concluded that a timeship from the 36th century had crashed on the planet, resulting in a temporal core explosion.
