The Tesla-class shuttle was a small Federation engineering shuttlecraft in operation in the late 24th century. They carried demolition charges that actually were low-yield photon torpedoes designed for clearing orbital wreckage. The shuttle would normally carry four and be capable of firing two at a time.

In September 2371 commander Riker, next to wreckage of USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D), fired demolition charges on Romulan attacker's on Veridian III. Three shuttles of this class were destroyed during this attack. (TOS novel: The Return).

The shuttle class was named after Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla.
