Thalmerite is an explosive material used by several civilizations and organizations, including Starfleet, the Klingons and the Cardassians.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2369, Hon-Tihl, first officer of the Klingon Empire warship IKS Toh'Kaht, planted a explosive device comprised of thalmerite near the reactor core of the starship when under the influence of the Saltah'na energy spheres. The device ignited and destroyed the Toh'Kaht near Starbase Deep Space 9. (DS9 episode: "Dramatis Personae")

In 2371, Gul Dulcet placed thalmerite explosive devices at several locations around the mining camp he oversaw. The Federation starship USS Defiant was able to rescue the Maquis and Cardassians in the camp before the devices exploded. (DS9 - The Maquis: Soldier of Peace comic: "Victims of Deceit")

The USS Voyager possessed quantities of thalmerite. (VOY episode: "Ex Post Facto")
