Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Commander Tharrk was a Klingon officer serving in the Imperial Klingon Defense Force in the 23rd century. By the 2260s, Kring was serving as commanding officer of a battle cruiser.

History[]

In 2266, Tharrk commanded an occupation force on the planet Fornia and proclaimed himself its military governor. After his ship bombarded several Fornian installations from orbit to demonstrate his ship's arsenal, he expected no resistance. When he introduced himself to the local government, however, he interrupted a diplomatic visit from James T. Kirk and Spock, who then evaded security guards and fled outside the capital city.

Kirk and Spock enacted a plan, with the help of Professor Markan, to convince Tharrk that a weather satellite had been loaded with explosives. Tharrk confronted Kirk and Spock in a Fornian observatory. They watched a viewscreen as Tharrk ordered his cruiser to shoot down the satellite. The beam reflected off of the probe's mirrorred surface and disabled the battle cruiser. Spock applied a Vulcan neck pinch to Tharrk, and Kirk knocked out his guards. The Starfleet officers handed the Klingons to Markan, suggesting that Tharrk could be placed into Fornia's justice system. (TOS comic: "Smoke and Mirrors")
