Tendi's dog

Tendi's dog.

The Dog was Ensign D'Vana Tendi's name for a pet dog she created via genetic engineering in the year 2380.

Biography[]

Dog opens wide

The Dog opens her mouth.

Although she looked like an Earth dog, she could speak, shapeshift, and defy gravity, traits Tendi imbued in the animal deliberately, having a lack of knowledge about canines. The Dog was taken by the USS Osler to "The Farm" on Endicronimas IV along with mutated and non-conventionally injured Starfleet officers. (LD episode: "Much Ado About Boimler")

In 2381, the Dog was among Cerritos visitors who got trapped by the malevolent artificial intelligence Badgey on the holodeck. Brad Boimler wondered how she got back aboard the ship. Thinking the Dog was creepy, Beckett Mariner wanted to jettison her into space. To help with the lower deckers' effort to earn enough merit points for Badgey to release them, Mariner sent the Dog to help oversee a simulation of a Section 31 starship. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "This Side of Pollendise")

Jennifer Sh'reyan quipped that the Dog thought everyone who gave her a treat was nice. The Dog confirmed that they were, and that T'Lyn smelled fine. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Fear Doctor")

When Badgey subjected the lower deckers to their worst fears, the Dog told Tendi that she felt she was broken and didn't want to live as a mutant. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Fear of a Badge Planet")

Badgey sometimes played fetch with the Dog and brought her treats. He admired her defiance of the laws of nature. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Badgey's Day")

In one of Badgey's drills, the Dog ate something while accompanying an away team to a planet. She ended up becoming a carrier for a strange virus that de-evolved ship's personnel. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "In the Beginning")

The Dog helped track the missing Mariner by the smell of her burrito in Badgey's Sherlock Holmes mystery. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "Elementary")

Alternate realities[]

In an alternate timeline, Tendi and The Dog were pulled into the temporal anomaly crisis. As a duo, they were skilled in the fields of engineering, science, and medicine. Among the equipment they brought to bear in away team missions were science lessons, the dog's genetic sequencing program, its cube form, and medical gear. (ST video game: Timelines)
