A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Quark is saved by another Cardassian and Quark seeks safety in his bar, where he encounters Odo and remonstrates him for not coming to his aid. Odo points out that the charges that Datar had made against Quark were all true. Three Cardassian civilians arrive and force Odo and Quark to walk through the Promenade towards a working turbolift. Quark notices Garak twice, but their Cardassian hostage takers do not. The five enter the turbolift and take it down to the lower core of the station, where a Cardassian woman, a scientist reveals that Gul Dukat when he left the station hours earlier. The woman shoots Odo, but only stunning him, with Garak also being found and stunned as well. The woman only needs Quark to enter a lab where the woman has been undertaking an experiment that has gone awry as the room is bathed with an odd light. Odo hears voices calling him, and evidentally the Cardassians do as well, but Quark hears nothing. Two of the Cardassians are hit by the energy emanating from the room and disappear. Quark moves into the lab, and finds himself in a vision of Ferenginar and sees his mother who makes a terrifying transformation, waking Quark from his nightmare.

The Fall of Terok Nor is a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. It was published in 2000. It is the first novel of the Millennium trilogy.

Introduction (blurb)

Bajor is in flames. The corridors of Terok Nor echo with the sounds of battle. It is the end of the Cardassian Occupation -- and the beginning of the greatest epic adventure in the saga of Deep Space 9....

Six years later, with the Federation losing ground in its war against the Dominion, the galaxy's greatest smugglers -- including the beautiful and enigmatic Vash -- rendezvous on Deep Space 9. Their objective: a fabled lost Orb of the Prophets unlike any other, rumored to be the key to unlocking a second wormhole in Bajoran space -- a second Celestial Temple.

Almost immediately, mysterious events plague the station: Odo arrests Quark for murder; Jake and Nog lead Chief O'Brien to an eerie holosuite in a section of the station that's not on any schematic; and a Cardassian scientist whom even the Obsidian Order once feared makes an unexpected appearance. With all those events tied to a never-before-told story of the Cardassian withdrawal, Captain Benjamin Sisko faces the most dangerous challenge of his career: Unless he can uncover the secret of the lost Orb, what began with the fall of Terok Nor will end with the destruction of Deep Space 9... or worse.

Summary

Following his encounter with Dukat in the Fire Caves, Captain Sisko has been existing with the Prophets within the wormhole. Sisko has come to realize that the Prophets arranged Sisko's existence as they needed him to teach them about linear existence. Sisko decides to thwll them a story of a different timeline.

Quark is having a nightmare about his experience when the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor came to an end. On Terok Nor, the Day of Withdrawal led to chaos erupting, with Cardassian soldiers killing Bajoran civilians on the Promenade. Quark is also targeted, with Glinn Datar and his men attempting to hang Quark.
