Summary[]
Saryana, an artist on the pre-industrial planet Naora who has begun making leaps forward in invention, meets with Riker, Crusher and Troi, who are undercover. They suspect someone else is giving her the ideas and realise that her pet Ebod, Alrak, is a member of the shapeshifting Henallian race, who have been nearly wiped out by the Borg. He is hoping to advance the Naorans until they can fight the Borg for them. A struggle breaks out, during which Saryann stuns Alrak with a phaser. The Starfleet party take Alrak away and attempt to erase Saryana's memory but she soon remembers everything.
