Background[]
As the planet Spock visited was referred to several times as the Illyrian homeworld, it was possible that this abandoned homeworld of eons ago was a different planet than the Illyria that had been cited in previously published stories, which was populated in the 23rd century.
Errata[]
Chapel referred to Spock as a commander on the first page. He was a lieutenant at the time, despite temporarily having assumed the role of first officer in Una Chin-Riley's absence.
