The Jem'Hadar is an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It was written by Ira Steven Behr. It was the season finale of the second season.
Benjamin Sisko, Quark, Jake Sisko and Nog are taken prisoner by the deadly soldiers of the Dominion.
Summary[]
Looking to encourage Jake's schoolwork, Commander Benjamin Sisko suggests a visit to a planet in the galaxy's Gamma Quadrant. Jake invites Nog as well and Quark, looking for time with Sisko to discuss a business opportunity, tags along as well.
Arriving on the planet, Sisko and Quark meet a woman called Eris and the three are taken prisoner by the Jem'Hadar. Eris explains that the Jem'Hadar are the soldiers of the Dominion. Eris has telekinetic powers, but a device placed around her neck prevents her from using them.
In the Alpha Quadrant, a Jem'Hadar ship emerges from the Bajoran wormhole and a Jem'Hadar called Talak'talan beams into Ops on Deep Space 9. He reveals that Sisko has been detained and that the Dominion has destroyed several ships from the Alpha Quadrant and massacred the Bajoran inhabitants of the New Bajor colony. The starship Odyssey later arrives at DS9 and Captain Keogh plans to enter the Gamma Quadrant to rescue Commander Sisko and the others. Major Kira, Dax, Odo, Chief O'Brien and Dr. Bashir will accompany the Odyssey in the runabouts Mekong and Orinoco.
In the Gamma Quadrant, Sisko and Quark remove the device from Eris' neck and she uses her powers to bring down the forcefield holding them and the trio are transported up to the Rio Grande, Three Jem'Hadar ships engage attack the Odyssey and their weaponry penetrates the starship's shields. The Odyssey attempts to withdraw, but one of the Jem'Hadar ships makes a suicide run into it, destroying the vessel.
Back on Deep Space 9, Quark informs Sisko that the device taken off Eris is just a simple lock - she clearly could have used her powers at any time, Sisko realises that the Dominion intended Eris to escape to act as a spy on the Federation. Confronting Eris, she transports away. With the Dominion a great threat, Sisko plans to be ready for them if they try to invade.
