"The Mirror War, Issue 7" is a comic, the 7th of 8 issues of IDW Publishing's comic miniseries, The Mirror War, released on 20 July 2022.

Description[]

As Captain Picard’s mighty armada prepares to strike a final blow on the unrelenting Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, unease grows among the crew of the USS Enterprise as the captain’s zeal approaches bloodthirst…

Summary[]

As the Terran fleet readies for its conquest Geordi La Forge, William T. Riker, Beverly Crusher and the Inquisitor meet in the ISS Enterprise-D's armory, discussing Jean-Luc Picard's increasing zeal and megalomania. The Inquisitor considering that the meeting alone is treasonous enough, she tells everyone to wait for the moment.

When the time comes for the Enterprise to launch, Leah Brahms makes her long-awaited move. Using her surreptitiously uploaded command codes, she takes command of the Galaxy-class. Just as she makes herself comfortable in the chair however, an unamused Picard enters, overrides her override and disintegrates her cohorts while ordering Brahms escorted to the brig. When it was found that Okona had access to the command codes, Picard had Data scour the computer core, discovering Brahms' malware. As Brahms is delivered to Troi for interrogation, Guinan warns Picard that other traitors are still waiting to make their move.

At Data's order, the normal warp safety protocols aboard the ISS Cronus are disabled, allowing his force to drop into realspace just above the enemy fleet, taking them by surprise. Before Worf can organize a counter-attack, the ISS Defiant, captained by a very much alive Miles O'Brien, leads in a second fleet as backup.

With Worf's forces distracted, the Enterprise leads the main fleet to a wall of Galor-class vessels defending Cardassia Prime. Over common sense, Picard orders the Terran fleet into battle, even ordering Troi and Riker to take the helm when an attack knocks out Wesley Crusher. Taking the tactical console, Picard orders every ship to open fire.

With the Defiant and the Cronus working in tandem, the IKS Negh'Var is pinned in place before Worf receives news about the attack on the Cardassian fleet, ordering his forces to assist. Recognizing that Worf is about to jump, Data and O'Brien brainstorm new ideas.

Despite the numerical advantage, the Cardassian fleet proves no match for superior Terran technology, a large hole quickly being blown through the blockade. At Picard's command, the fleet continues forward. Bolstered, Picard accelerates the stratagem. Tomorrow, Cardassia Prime dies.
