The Scream was an iconic oil painting created by Edvard Munch. He created five versions of the image in all, some in pastel, from 1893 to 1910.

History[]

In 2269, a flash of lightning dramatically lit the face of pilot ship captain Koust. In that moment, Hikaru Sulu thought the Dassik looked like the character in Munch's painting The Scream. (TOS novel: The Face of the Unknown)
