A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! As always, the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Strange New Worlds and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG and Star Trek Online, as well as other eventful releases such as Section 31, the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

"The Specter of Jamestown" is the third of four short stories from the water portion of the New Worlds, New Civilizations anthology released by Pocket Books in November 1999. It was written by Michael Jan Friedman and illustrated by George Pratt.

Description[]

Starfleet goes into one of the Maquis bases in the Badlands.

Summary[]

A reporter for the Starfleet News Service joins an away team from the USS Crockett to search for Maquis survivors on radiation-doused Prussura IV. No lifesigns are detected, and they find the colony empty, with a child's doll and other possessions abandoned without explanation. They are unable to solve the mystery, likening it to a lost colony in North America on Earth.
