Theep, short for thiotrichloride ethepeptine, was a hormonal stimulant known to affect only Ferreth men.

History and specifics[]

Theep was a drug used illicitly by some Ferreth to improve ferocity and endurance during traditional mating rituals on their homeworld of Alpha Pernaculon IV. Smugglers could earn a fortune if they sold theep to the right buyer. The compound was highly acidic and would eventually corrode any container it was stored in. An antidote for its biological effects was known to Starfleet science.

In 2274, Investigator Mernat boarded the starship USS Enterprise in search of theep smugglers. Mike Carpenter and his accomplice Lucy did in fact have two containers of theep hidden aboard the ship for delivery to Cyonis IV. Their first container, hidden behind a wall in auxiliary control, leaked onto crossover circuits to the bridge and prevented the Enterprise from raising deflector shields, resulting in the ship incurring battle damage from a Kzinti attack. Their second container, hidden within transporter room relays in engineering, short-circuited transporter controls and resulted in the deaths of two people. Mernat detected the scent of leaking theep in engineering and was able to warn security of its location before its effects drove him into a killing fever. (TOS comic: "The Wristwatch Plantation")
