The Theseus class was a 26th century Federation starship class, a temporal escort and variant subclass of the 23rd century Perseus-class escort, in Starfleet service in the 2550s decade. The class was also known as Theseus II class, differentiating it from the 25th century Theseus-class miracle worker destroyer. (STO - Incursion mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Service history and specifications[]
The Theseus class was based on the 23rd century Perseus-class escort. The Perseus was active in the year 2270, where the Temporal Integrity Commission recruited temporal agents from. Structurally, the ship consisted of an almond-shaped, flat saucer section, with a pair of warp nacelles attached on short nacelle pylons with the hull's aft. The arrangement mirrored the ancestral Perseus escort. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
By the 26th century, the Theseus class operated as escort. For the USS Theseus (NCV-88050), Starfleet carried an advanced science suite with tactical systems. As a result of the Temporal Cold War, the class was also refitted into temporal escort, incorporating timeship technologies such as the molecular reconstruction mechanic and the the timestream rift warhead launcher. Ships of the class, including the Mjolnir, participated in the Battle of Procyon V alongside the USS Enterprise-J against the Temporal Liberation Front and their Sphere Builder allies in 2554. (STO - Future Proof missions: "Ragnarok", "Battle of Procyon V")
The Theseus was armed with phaser banks, phaser dual cannons and photon torpedo launchers. As a combat-oriented timeship, it was able to fire a timestream rift warhead at enemy targets. In its experimental weapon slot the experimental hyperexcited ion stream projector Mk. X was equipped by default. Defensive systems included deflector shields and tractor beams. Due to the opening of a new front of the Temporal Cold War in the year 2410, the Federation Temporal Agency and its Temporal Agent Timot Danlen worked with Khitomer Alliance authorities native to the 25th century. Some commanding officers of that time were recruited as temporal agents, and given access to starship classes of the 26th and 31st centuries. In the 25th century, the design of the Theseus-class temporal escort allowed its commanding officer to choose from different designs of hull materials, which could be modified further at shipyards. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
