The Third House of Betazed was the third oldest House on the planet Betazed. The Third House was one of the most important families in Betazoid culture, whose ancestry could be traced back to the founding of Betazoid society. (TNG novel: Imzadi)

History

Dainara was a scion of the Third House. In 2138, he was a progressive priest and advocated for the separation between secular and spiritual power. His eloquence failed to inspire other priests and nobles to submit to change.

Following the Terabian conflict between Betazed and the Terabian people, Dainara led the negotiations for the Terabian Armistice. Betazed transitioned to a provisional council, and eventually the democratic Ruling Council of Betazed established. (Last Unicorn RPG - TNG module: Planets of the UFP)

By the late 2350s, the Third House was headed by Gart Xerx. In 2359, the wedding of Gart's daughter, Chandra, led to the Federation choosing to send a representative. Initially, Mark Roper was to attend the ceremony with his daughter, Wendy, however, a prior engagement led Wendy to attend the ceremony with Lieutenant William T. Riker. (TNG novel: Imzadi)

By the 2370s, Sorana Xerix was a daughter of the Third House. From 2374-2375, Xerix was a member of the Betazed resistance fighting the Dominion occupation. (TNG novel: The Battle of Betazed)
