Thrai was a Romulan mining engineer serving aboard the mining freighter Narada, under the command of Captain Nero, in the late 2380s.
During a mining operation on an unnamed planet near the Hobus star in 2387, Thrai led the extraction team which operated the Narada's mining platform. When Hobus suddenly went supernova, Thrai and his team were emergency transported back to the Narada before the freighter was forced to jump to warp. (ST - Countdown comic: "Number One")
Thrai was later killed by General Worf during a EVA mission on the Narada by the Klingons. (TNG comic: "Countdown, Number Four")
