Tiberius Caesar Augustus (November 16, 42 BCEMarch 16, 37) was a human who lived on Earth during both the 1st century BCE and the 1st century CE. Tiberius was the second Emperor of the Roman Empire, succeeding Emperor Augustus in the year 14, and ruling until his death in the year 37. Tiberius was noted for being a particularly bloodthirsty Roman Emperor. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure)

In the 23rd century, George Samuel and Winona Kirk gave their second son James the middle name of Tiberius as George's father Samuel was fascinated with the Emperor Tiberius. (TOS novelization: Star Trek: The Motion Picture) When a disguised Charles Tucker III met the Kirk family, he wasn't sure what was worse for the young James Kirk - him having been born on March 22nd, which had been the day of the Xindi attack on Earth, or that he had been named after Tiberius. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure) While Kirk was a student at Starfleet Academy, Graves, the history instructor, once compared him to Tiberius, referring to Kirk's impatience sometimes overwhelming his compassion. Kirk, knowing that Tiberius was a man of no compassion who had not governed wisely, would remind himself of his middle name whenever he found himself growing angry or frustrated, so as to never give anyone reason to compare him to his namesake. (TOS novel: The Galactic Whirlpool)

In the mirror universe, James T. Kirk used "Tiberius" as his regnal name. (TOS novel: Spectre)
