Tiburon is a planet that is the homeworld of the Tiburons. By the 23rd century, Tiburon was a Federation member world. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation; TOS episode: "The Way to Eden")
Specifics[]
Natives called it Simeran. The third planet of the Tiburon system, Tiburon orbited the type M red dwarf star Omega Fornacis A, part of the Omega Fornacis binary star system. It had a rich oxygen atmosphere thinner than most class M planets, and had seven moons. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation, ST reference: Star Charts)
Tiburon had a cool temperate climate. Surface minerals included trace amounts of gemstones and industrial crystals, with no special minerals. It had a technological/sociopolitical index of 986676-67 and a planetary trade profile of BCBCCBC/C(C). (FASA RPG module: The Federation)
It had an extreme axial tilt that left its northern quadrant in perpetual twilight for half of its year. (TTN novel: The Red King)
Some sort of gas cloud existed between Tiburon and at least one of its moons. (ST video game: Legacy)
- ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation and ST reference: Star Charts specified Tiburon as the third planet with seven moons, whereas FASA RPG module: The Federation identified Tiburon as the second planet with two moons. It's possible that the planet's orbit was so elliptical that at times it could be considered either the second or the third planet.
History[]
Centuries ago, the aggressive Ucali faction residing on neighboring world Ucali traveled in prewarp spacecraft to Tiburon. They resettled and conquered the native population, resulting in the modern Tiburon civilization. Zora, a hybrid of the two species, was known for conducting medical experiments on the natives. Over time, the Ucali softened, and a rebellion collapsed the government, sending the world into a period of upheaval and anarchy. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Original Series Core Game Book, Decipher RPG module: Starfleet Operations Manual)
Several centuries passed, a backlash against Zora's scientific atrocities, before the world entered a renaissance period in technology and exploration. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Original Series Core Game Book, Decipher RPG module: Starfleet Operations Manual, TOS novel: Unspoken Truth)
In 2149, Doctor Phlox met Antaak at the IME Conference on Tiburon. (ENT episode: "Affliction")

By the 2270s or 2280s, the R1 Administrator-class space station Resurrection 1 orbited the planet for use as a cemetery. (FASA RPG module: Regula-1 Orbital Station Deckplans)
In 2285, some civil unrest erupted over the exploitation of a recent dilithium discovery. A Tellarite mining corporation caused several of the local politicians to disappear, only to be replaced with those friendly to offworld trade with this corporation. Federation officials had been unsuccessful in prosecuting those involved as of late 2286. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
During the Dominion War, Tiburon was attacked by Jem'Hadar vessels. Elias Vaughn was there and witnessed the brilliant explosions as the ships exploded. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)
Several Suliban and Vanoben settled on the planet. The Tiburon did not mix themselves with the settlers. (TTN novel: The Red King)
In 2377, Deanna Troi and William T. Riker spent part of a vacation on Tiburon. (VOY episode: "Inside Man")
In January 2380 on the holodeck of the USS Titan, Riker simulated fallen Lieutenant Commander Nidani Ledrah's home region on Tiburon so as to perform a ritual funeral for her per Tiburonian custom. About 250 of the ship's crew attended. (TTN novel: The Red King)
Federation councillors from Tiburon included Jard Elbir and Xeldara Trask. (DTI novel: Forgotten History, ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
