Tiburon is a Federation Member State and homeworld of the Tiburons. (novel: Articles of the Federation; TOS episode: "The Way to Eden"; DS9 episode: "The Ship").

In 2285, some civil unrest erupted over the exploitation of a recent dilithium discovery. A Tellarite mining corporation caused several of the local politicians to disappear, only to be replaced with those friendly to offworld trade with this corporation.
