The Tikopai-class (or Tikopai-subclass), also known as the mk XIB or Constitution mk IV-class, were a sub-type of the Constitution-class heavy cruisers and were ordered for Starfleet appropriation on stardate 5930. Vessels of this type served in the Four Years War, but due to their hull structure, the Tikopai ships were incapable of being refit with newly designed phaser and photon torpedo systems of the 2250s era, although later models included the modern weapons. Forty-four vessels were rated to these specifications in the 23rd century. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual; FASA RPG module: The Four Years War)
- Although the SFTM describes this class as a later version of the older Constitution design, the FASA RPG manual has these vessels existing earlier, being similar, but not equal to, the other Constitution-class vessels of the era.
