Tini was the second planet in the Refniai star system in the Orion Neutrality Area in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It was a class G planet, and had no moons, but it was home to an Orion Colony.
Environment
Tini was a harsh desert world lying beneath two red suns, and described as "the Orion Vulcan". It was a Class G desert world, with a thin atmosphere and a 26-hour day. It had a total surface area of 432,260,830 square kilometers and 100% land mass. Tini was made up of 19% normal metals, 15% radioactive elements, 6% industrial crystals, and 5% special minerals, with only trace amounts of gemstones.
History
The original inhabitants of Tini were the Miln, a slender 2.5-meter-tall race. They were signatories to the Treaty of Kammzdast and kept Orion slaves. When the Orion War broke out, they were the last to resist the Orion rebels, and even after its conclusion on February 13th, 56 BCE (reference stardate -20/5602.13), peace was never formalized.
The Orions couldn't be bothered completely conquering or absorbing the Miln, and no real trade between the two ever took place. The Miln remained reclusive in their cities and decayed. The Orions ignored them and burrowed underground to develop and mine.
After the Four Years War (circa 2250s), Tini was chosen by the Rigel Demilitarized Zone Commission as the primary resettlement site for refugees from Sector Four. Most were unable to adjust to the conditions on Tini and soon relocated. Only those from Vola V stayed and had any success, for they'd lived in similar conditions, in large sub-surface cities kept alive by life-support, albeit from an ocean-dominated world.
Society
The Orions of Tini lived in plounla, or subterranean cities. There were 5922 of these cities in the late 23rd century, each with over a billion inhabitants and their own ruling families. These warren-like cities depended on their life-support systems for survival, and encircling each plounla were evaporator farms that proved quite effective at feeding the growing population. From these cities, the Orions mined for resources. Their productively increased annually.
The delicate lace-crystal cities of the Miln had fallen into half-ruined states by the 23rd century. Only legend claimed that the Miln still lived in them.
Tini had a technological/sociopolitical index of 999974-74 and a planetary trade profile of FCCEDEF/B(A). (FASA RPG - The Orions module: Book of Common Knowledge)
