Jast arrived at the station during the N-Vector viroid incident, and got off on the wrong foot with station commander, Colonel Kira Nerys, but the two eventually earned each other's respect. Jast was assigned by Starfleet Internal Affairs to investigate Miles O'Brien. (DS9 - N-Vector comics: "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", "Chapter 3", "Chapter 4")
By April of 2376, Jast became well adjusted to serve as Deep Space 9's first officer. She and Colonel Kira developed a good working relationship, became even friend, and the station personnel respected and liked her, despite that a few considered her to be cold. During a major refit on the station and the Defiant, a trio of rogue Jem'Hadar vessels launched an attack in the hopes of reigniting the conflict with the Alpha Quadrant.
After the attackers destroyed the ship assigned to defend the DS9 during the refit, the USS Aldebaran, Jast took out the Defiant to combat them, despite that the vessel was barely functional. She was killed in the course of the battle by a power surge while she was trying to effect repairs on a bridge station. (DS9 - Avatar novel: Book One)
